NASHVILLE, TN (June 3, 2024) – Renowned hitmaker and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Kent Blazy has released his highly anticipated album, My Life So Far. The eleven-track project, available now on all major music platforms, offers an intimate and masterful reflection of a life steeped in music, love, loss, and resilience.
A Musical Journey Through Time
Recorded at Nashville’s Emporium Recording Studio, My Life So Far takes listeners on a deeply personal journey, with songs crafted by Blazy and featuring a co-write with longtime collaborator and country music legend Garth Brooks on the closing track, “For A Minute There.”
“This album is a celebration of where I am now,” Blazy shared. “It was inspired by the loss of two people who shaped my early years. Writing these songs was an emotional yet joyful process.”
From the tender “Still My Only Child,” chronicling the sacrifice of a normal life for a musical dream, to the stirring “This Song’s For You,” written in honor of a late bandmate, each track reflects Blazy’s ability to weave personal narratives into universal truths. Songs like “The Devil’s Music,” inspired by a preacher’s cautionary words, and “Feeling Alive Again,” which chronicles recovery from grief, display his exceptional range as a songwriter and storyteller.
Praise From Industry Luminaries
My Life So Far has already garnered high praise from peers and industry icons. Don Wiggins of Fender Musical Instruments described the album as a “slice of real-deal music… brought to life by top-tier songwriting and musicianship.” Renowned songwriter Monty Powell likened the project to Bruce Springsteen’s The River, celebrating its ability to merge raw emotion with rock-tinged energy.
Hori Global Entertainment’s Butch Baker called the album “an old friend,” drawing comparisons to classic works by Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young, while Kent Maxson, co-writer of Gary Allan’s “From Where I’m Sitting,” deemed it his favorite Blazy album, lauding its emotional depth and authenticity.
A Masterpiece of Collaboration
The album boasts an impeccable sound, thanks to Chris Utley's mixing and engineering and John Mayfield of Mayfield Mastering's expertise. Studio musicians Lee Francis (bass), Kevin Murphy (drums), and Steve Allen (guitars) elevate the project, while Blazy himself shines on vocals and guitar.
The stunning album artwork, designed by Nancy Terzian, features photography by Ed Rode and Cindy Blazy, capturing the reflective spirit of the music.
