Kacey Musgraves Launches ‘Middle of Nowhere’ Tour With Career-Spanning Set

Kacey Musgraves officially launched her highly anticipated Middle of Nowhere Tour on Friday, Aug. 21—coinciding with the country star’s 38th birthday.
Musgraves kept her opening-night look understated, taking the stage in a cowgirl hat, white tank top and fitted jeans accented with rhinestones and a large shimmering belt buckle. Rather than relying on wardrobe changes, the production placed the focus on the music and an elaborate stage design.
The show blended new material from Musgraves’ 2026 album, Middle of Nowhere, with longtime fan favorites including “Space Cowboy,” “Follow Your Arrow,” “High Horse,” “Butterflies” and “Slow Burn.”
Fan videos from the opening concert revealed an impressive circular stage that rotates throughout the performance, giving Musgraves an opportunity to face every section of the arena.

Musgraves closed the show with a tribute to her home state. The Golden, Texas, native performed George Strait’s 1987 No. 1 hit, “All My Ex’s Live in Texas,” while red, white and blue stars moved above the stage and a Texas flag provided the backdrop.
The salute was a fitting conclusion for a show rooted heavily in Texas imagery and Musgraves’ country influences. Strait remains one of the state’s most celebrated musical figures and is widely recognized as the King of Country.
The tour had originally been scheduled to begin one night earlier, but that performance was canceled without an explanation from Musgraves’ team. The Middle of Nowhere Tour continues Aug. 24 in Toronto.
