How to Pack Pedals, Electronics, and Studio Equipment
Protect pedals, audio interfaces, recording equipment, and other electronics from impact, moisture, static, and loose components during shipping.
Pedals, audio interfaces, microphones, recording equipment, and other electronics can be damaged by impact, pressure, moisture, static, and movement inside the package. Pack each item so it remains protected from drop-off through delivery.
Prepare the Equipment
Photograph the item’s condition before packing. Disconnect and secure power supplies, cables, adapters, and accessories. Protect knobs, switches, jacks, screens, and other exposed controls so they are not pressed or bent in transit.
Use Appropriate Protective Materials
Wrap the item with suitable cushioning and use anti-static packaging where appropriate for sensitive electronics. Place it in a strong box that leaves room for protective materials on every side. Fill all open space so the item cannot move inside the box.
Pack Accessories Separately
Wrap adapters, cables, microphones, mounts, and other accessories separately. Do not allow loose items to sit against the equipment or move freely inside the package.
Follow Battery Rules
Some batteries and battery-powered devices are restricted or require special packaging, labeling, or shipping services. Review the carrier’s current requirements before shipping any item with a battery. Do not ship a damaged or unsafe battery.
Finish the Package Properly
Seal every seam with shipping tape, remove old labels, and apply the new label on a flat surface. Keep photographs of the equipment, its packaging, and your carrier drop-off record.
