Steven Gary BIOGRAPHY Steve is a California native who started performing at the age of 4. Learning guitar, bass and trumpet his first credits were in college playing original songs on local radio play on radio station KALX in Berkeley, performances around the San Francisco area and a nationwide tour with a college variety troupe. Moving to Hollywood he quickly came into demand as a vocalist for live and studio performances. Among many others Steve recorded and/or performed with platinum songwriter David Pomeranz, Russian pop star Sasha Malinin, 60s legend Melanie, Edgar Winter, Frank Stallone(Sly’s brother), Karen Black, Rolling Stones pianist Nicky Hopkins, Jazz master Chick Corea and Austrailian pop star Kate Ceberano. Steven has logged over 15,000 performances in the US, Canada, Mexico, South America and the Caribbean He performed with top Mexican pop stars Amanda Miguel, Diego Verdaguer, and Johnny Laboriel, 70s Disco Diva Maxine Nightingale, “Waltons” star Judy Norton-Taylor, “X-factor” finalist Stacy Francis, Rock bassist Billy Sheehan(David Lee Roth, Mr. Big), legendary arranger David Campbell(Carole King, Alanis Morrissette), “Steely Dan” bassist Tom Barney, and David Crosby bandmate Jeff Pevar (CPR) Other highlights include performing at the St Lucia Jazz Festival, following Rhianna and opening for Babyface, and the St Vincent Blues festival opening for Oleta Adams, where Steve performed his song “I’ve Got No Right to Sing the Blues” Returning home from his travels, Steve appeared in local venues and radio stations throughout the Bay Area, highlighted by a week of shows with Motown Legend Martha Reeves. His songs were performed by a number of local artists and his inspirational song “Everybody Lend a hand was picked up and regularly performed by a church choir in Florida. Last year, Steve moved to Nashville to expand his opportunities as a songwriter. Steve has released three CDs including “Eclectic Acoustic”, a Christmas CD “Tis the Season” and an Americana album “Things Change” which includes tracks recorded by Kenny Rogers bassist Chuck Jacobs, Missing Persons guitarist Karl D’Amico and master guitarist Will Ray. “Your Mama Must Be So Proud of You” was recorded by West Coast artist Mike Osborn and appears on his album “Unbroken”. His song “Gone Gone Gone” was picked up by KGR Records in Florida. Steve’s solo release “Same Old Story” appears on the compilation CD “13 Moments to Summer” released by Ramshaw Records in England Steve’s novelty songs are regularly featured on the legendary Dr. Demento’s radio show and his recent Dylan Parody “Talking Media Fear Markers Blues (Everybody Must Get Scared)” was #2 and #1 on the Dr’s monthly Top Ten for this May and June, respectively.
