Nashville, TN (February 2025) – William Michael Morgan, the country neo-traditionalist who has become a torchbearer for the roots of classic country, is set to release his highly anticipated six-song EP, Onto Something, on March 15, 2025. Available on all platforms via ONErpm Nashville, the new EP is a bold step forward in his musical journey while staying true to his deep ties to the country traditions of the past.

To celebrate the release, Morgan will perform a one-hour pop-up show at Blake Shelton’s Ole Red in downtown Nashville on March 14, the evening before the EP’s arrival. The event promises to be an intimate, high-energy preview of what’s to come—country music at its finest.

“I couldn’t be more excited to get this EP out,” Morgan says, flashing his signature grin, complete with his famous mustache. “Tracking with Keith Stegall was an incredible experience, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear what we put together.”

The excitement is palpable, and for good reason. Morgan, known for his rich, resonant voice and unshakable dedication to honky-tonk roots, has teamed up with legendary producer Keith Stegall (a multiple CMA, ACM, and Grammy Award winner) to craft a collection that taps into the heart of ‘70s-era Nashville while remaining fresh and authentic for today's listeners.

A Neo-Traditional Sound

Ryan Cunningham, A&R director for Country Music at ONErpm, notes that Morgan’s new EP arrives at the perfect moment for fans of the neo-traditional sound. “William’s new music is a welcome addition to the increasingly popular neo-traditional movement that websites like Saving Country Music have credited him with starting,” Cunningham says. “This EP will stand out amid the pop influences that currently define modern country.”

The Onto Something EP delivers on this promise, offering six tracks that reflect Morgan’s deep understanding and respect for country music’s history. Two pre-released singles—In Walked You and Not Letting Go—set the tone for the EP's seamless blend of nostalgia and originality.

"In Walked You," a mid-tempo track, offers a breezy barroom vibe with lyrics that paint a vivid picture of a Saturday night encounter: “In walked you on a Saturday night, Neon blue lightin’ up your eyes.” Meanwhile, “Not Letting Go” brings a bittersweet edge with its lyrics: “We’ve gone too far to get back to where we were before.” Both songs show Morgan’s ability to blend emotional depth with traditional instrumentation, featuring steel guitar and fiddle licks that recall the golden era of country music.

Pouring Whiskey on Heartache

One of the standout tracks on Onto Something is the raucous drinking anthem “Pour A Little Whiskey On It,” which highlights Morgan’s knack for storytelling and fun-loving charm. As he pours his heart into the track, Morgan offers a cathartic escape for anyone nursing a broken heart.

“If she’s really adios,
I guess it’s easy come, easy go;
I might as well honky tonk it,
Maybe all night long it;
Take this heartache to town,
And pour a little whiskey on it.”

It’s a straightforward drinking song, but Morgan’s delivery makes it feel like an old friend offering solace after a tough break-up. The song’s lighthearted defiance is the perfect counterpart to the more vulnerable tracks on the EP, balancing out the emotional journey with a good-time anthem.

And fans will be treated to even more: “Pour A Little Whiskey On It” will also get the visual treatment with the premiere of its music video later this month, giving fans another layer of connection to the song and the overall spirit of Onto Something.

A Full EP with Something for Everyone

Morgan’s collaborations with Stegall extend beyond just the singles. The title track, “Onto Something,” is a tender nod to the promise of a new relationship, while “She Don’t Like Old Country” finds Morgan grappling with the tension between modern life and traditional values. It’s a reflection of the current country landscape, where Morgan’s sound may feel like a step back in time, but with lyrics that strike a chord in the present.

Then there’s “The Sun Don’t Shine No More In Acapulco,” a quirky track with a nostalgic twist that mixes longing with hope, and the upbeat but regret-laden “She Don’t Like Old Country.” These are the kinds of songs that could only come from someone who truly understands the roots of the genre, but who’s also not afraid to push the boundaries of what country music can be.

A Respected Voice in Country Music

William Michael Morgan is no stranger to success. The 30-year-old Mississippi native made a name for himself with his debut hit single “I Met a Girl,” which Rolling Stone described as a “laid-back ode to the joy of romantic discovery.” His 2016 single went No. 1, and his debut album Vinyl reached Top 5 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, solidifying his place in country music.

With over 100 million on-demand streams to his name, Morgan has become one of the leading voices of the neo-traditional movement, earning praise for his ability to blend classic country influences with a modern edge. As Stegall puts it, “Country music is alive and well. It lives and breathes when William Michael Morgan picks up a guitar and tells us stories of love lost and honky-tonks found. Country music at its finest.”

The Road Ahead

As Morgan prepares for the release of Onto Something, it’s clear that he’s ready to continue his journey toward country music greatness. His fans, old and new, will no doubt continue to follow him as he brings more timeless stories to life with every song. Onto Something isn’t just the title of his new EP—it’s a reflection of the exciting things yet to come for this modern-day traditionalist.

The six-song EP will be available on March 15, 2025, across all streaming platforms. To pre-save the album and keep up with all the latest updates, visit WilliamMichaelMorgan.com.
