BREMEN, GA — Southern music is getting its flowers, and one of its most legendary producers is finally being celebrated on his home turf.

On Friday, June 20, the town of Bremen, Georgia, will officially honor the life and legacy of Harold Shedd with the grand opening of The Harold Shedd Music Gallery at The Hub (119 Hamilton Ave). The event, hosted by the Harold Shedd Foundation, will include a free, public Georgia Music Heritage Community Celebration headlined by rockers The Georgia Thunderbolts, with a series of VIP events and tributes planned throughout the day.

More than just a museum, the Harold Shedd Music Gallery is a love letter to Southern music. With immersive exhibits, rare memorabilia, and interactive installations, the gallery will tell the story of a small-town radio kid who climbed all the way to the top of Nashville’s music scene — producing icons like ALABAMA, Billy Ray Cyrus, Toby Keith, Reba McEntire, and Shania Twain, and redefining the sound of modern country.

“I’m truly honored,” says Shedd. “To be recognized in my hometown and celebrated alongside the artists I helped get on the radio — it reminds me how powerful music really is. At 90-plus years old, I can honestly say it’s been a life well-lived.”

Richard Young of The Kentucky Headhunters, a longtime friend of Shedd’s, is helping bring the celebration to life. He’ll send his own band The Georgia Thunderbolts to perform at the June 20 event, while The Headhunters themselves are set to play in the fall.

“Harold changed lives — and he changed the sound of country music,” says Young. “It’s only right that the people of Bremen get to celebrate one of their own. He’s a legend, plain and simple.”

📅 Event Lineup – Friday, June 20

  • 12:30 PM: Vision Presentation — A sizzle reel highlighting Shedd’s career, plus a preview of the Music Gallery and Foundation’s future plans (invited guests only).

  • 1:15 PM: VIP Reception & Lunch at The Stockroom.

  • 6:30 PM: Free Georgia Music Heritage Celebration featuring The Georgia Thunderbolts (open to the public at The Hub).

Shedd’s journey is the stuff of Southern lore. From spinning records at a local radio station to producing 21 consecutive No. 1 hits with ALABAMA, he went on to co-own the famed Music Mill studio and serve as president of Mercury Records and Polydor Nashville. Inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1989, Shedd also has a stretch of U.S. Route 27 in Bremen named in his honor — “Harold Shedd Highway.”

With the unveiling of the Music Gallery, Shedd's legacy will now have a permanent home where future generations can discover the stories, sounds, and soul of Southern music.

About the Harold Shedd Foundation

The Harold Shedd Foundation is committed to preserving the legacy of Southern music through education, tourism partnerships, and community storytelling. In collaboration with the City of Bremen, local schools, and regional businesses, the Foundation is creating a lasting tribute to Harold Shedd’s impact while ensuring the next generation understands the true sound of the South.
