Keith Brown | OohYeah
My name is Keith Bernard Brown, Sr. I am a 35 year-old Records Supervisor at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. I have worked at the University for the past six years, during which time I earned my BA degree in History(graduating Magna Cum Laude-3.6/4.0). I am also a professional musician, specializing in acoustic Delta Blues, and I have been a serious student of American Popular Music for about 15 years. I have performed concerts and played festivals in the U.S. and Europe and I have a CD that was released in France in November of 1997 entitled, Keith B. Brown-Walking on Muddy Waters, Mississippi Blues in the Garonne Country. The record received four stars in 'Soul Bag,' the premier French Blues magazine and received a favorable review in Living Blues magazine (issue 139) here in the States.I started out in music taking classical guitar lessons at Memphis State University and from there I taught myself to play Rock, Country and eventually Blues. I won the Beale Street Blues Society's National Blues Competition in August of 1997 and in November of' '97 I placed 2nd in the Blues Foundation's International Talent Competition. Being a History major and having written dozens of papers, essays and research projects and also being an insatiable student of not just American music but music from all over the world, I feel that writing about music is the logical next step for me. This is the direction in which I wish to move in the near future.
