Shipping, Returns, and Seller Policies

Learn how to package and ship Marketplace orders safely, set clear return policies, use tracking, and follow carrier requirements.

Individual sellers are responsible for accurately listing, packaging, shipping, and fulfilling their own Marketplace orders. OohYeah does not inspect, package, ship, or insure the tangible items sold on the Marketplace.

Ship Items Safely

Use a box and packing materials appropriate for the item’s size, weight, and fragility. The item should be secured inside the package so it cannot shift during normal carrier handling.

Do not ship a guitar, bass, keyboard, amplifier, or other fragile gear in a generic box that is too large, too small, weak, or poorly padded. Use packaging designed for the actual item and any case or accessories included in the shipment.

Proper packaging matters. Carrier coverage does not replace it. A carrier may deny a damage claim when an item was packed improperly or did not meet its packaging requirements, even if the seller purchased declared-value coverage or other shipping protection.

  • Use sturdy packaging and enough cushioning to prevent movement.
  • Protect fragile items from contact with the sides and corners of the box.
  • Use a box designed for the item’s dimensions and weight.
  • Pack heavy items so they cannot damage the item, the box, or other shipments.
  • Follow the current requirements of your chosen carrier.

Before shipping, photograph the item, the packing process, the sealed box, and the shipping label. Keep your shipping receipt and tracking information. If damage is reported, ask the buyer to retain the item, the outer box, and all packing materials until the carrier confirms they are no longer needed.

Use Tracking

Use tracking whenever it is available and add the tracking information to the order. A shipping label only shows that a label was created. Carrier tracking confirms when the package has entered the carrier’s network.

Official Carrier Resources

Review your carrier’s current requirements before shipping:

  • UPS: How to Pack a Box or Pallet
  • UPS: Packaging Guidelines
  • FedEx: How to Pack Breakables
  • FedEx: General Packaging Guidelines
  • USPS: Prepare and Send a Package
  • USPS: Shipping Restrictions and Hazardous Materials

Set a Clear Return Policy

Every seller sets their own return policy. Before publishing a listing, clearly state:

  • Whether returns are accepted
  • The return timeframe
  • The condition an item must be in to qualify for a return
  • Who is responsible for return shipping costs
  • Any exceptions, such as final-sale or made-to-order items

Your return policy should be visible in every listing. Keep it current and apply it consistently.

If There Is an Order Issue

Keep all order-related messages on OohYeah. If a buyer reports an issue, work with them first through OohYeah and keep all photos, tracking, receipts, and packaging information available.

If the issue cannot be resolved, contact OohYeah Support with the order details and supporting documentation. For information about Marketplace payments, PayPal disputes, and order support, see Marketplace Payments and Buyer/Seller Protection.
