Bright Light Bright Light | OohYeah

Bright Light Bright Light is the moniker of Welsh singer, songwriter, producer and DJ Rod Thomas who now lives in Brooklyn, New York. His music is hugely influenced by cinema: his name comes from 80s horror film Gremlins, and most recent album Choreography was inspired by dance sequences from his favourite films, including 'Mannequin', 'Flashdance' and 'Romy & Michele's High School Reunion' whose star Alan Cumming features on the album, alongside other notable guests Scissor Sisters and Elton John, who Rod spent a year opening for across the world on tour.A true independent artist in every sense, Rod is his own musical and visual director, manager and tour manager, and became the first unsigned act to perform on Graham Norton's BBC One show in 2016, with Elton John on stage with him. Their song All in the Name (Remixes) won him a much wider audience, and another Elton John feature Running Back to You was earmarked by Billboard Magazine as a modern gay anthem. To date, Rod has toured with John Grant, Ellie Goulding, Clock Opera, Elton John, Scissor Sisters, Tinashe and Hercules & Love Affair. In 2018, they will spend 29 shows opening for Erasure, one of Rod's biggest influences, he cites. Other influences include Kate Bush, Björk, Tori Amos, Grace Jones, David Bowie, Black Box, Dubstar, The Cardigans and Pet Shop Boys.He also runs DJ nights, curating his Romy & Michele's Saturday Afternoon Tea Dance - presented by Bright Light Bright Light party playlists each month.
