Belinda Carlisle, born in 1958 in Los Angeles, is an American singer and songwriter. She gained fame as the lead vocalist of The Go-Go's, whose 1981 album Beauty and the Beat was the first all-female-written and performed album to top the Billboard 200. After the band’s breakup in 1985, she launched a successful solo career, producing hits like "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" and Runaway Horses (1989).The Go-Go's reunited in 1999, and Carlisle continued solo and band projects, receiving numerous honors including a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She is also known for her advocacy, autobiography Lips Unsealed, and commitment to personal growth.
