HEREAFTER | OohYeah
The earthy music of HEREAFTER is rich in organic tones and textures, with pounding tribal polyrhythms. A classic sonic palette, layered with lush vocal harmonies and the sounds of nature, give their music a fresh and distinctive sound. While HEREAFTER's progressive music is current and unique, it harkens back to Classic Rock and Heavy Metal. Their well-constructed songs are dynamic and densely interwoven. Their hard-hitting lyrics are relevant and thought provoking, seeking to confront the world's sociopolitical and environmental challenges. HereAfter was assembled in 2018 as a distance recording project by Tin Idol Productions of Honolulu, HI. Their acclaimed debut album, BURIAL GROUNDS, was a finalist in the Metal Album of the Year category of the 2019 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards from the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA). Their song, Rolling In The Grave, was nominated for Best Metal Performance that same year, and was selected by HARA for submission to the Grammys. HEREAFTER's elaborate concept album, PURIFIED, is the followup to their award nominated debut album, BURIAL GROUNDS. With a lineup change to overhaul the rhythm section and add keys, the music of HEREAFTER takes a decidedly more progressive and psychedelic direction. PURIFIED highlights the destruction of the natural environment and decimation of the indigenous cultures of the America's through the contagious spread of the demonic, psychospiritual disease, Wetiko. In Algonquian folklore, the cannibalistic mind parasite, Wetiko, is the embodiment of gluttony, selfishness, and greed. Current sociopolitical events and environmental calamities are viewed through the lens of Native American Prophecy, Indigenous Rights Issues, and the Youth Climate Movements, before Imaginal Cells (evolving elements within our cultures), stand to atone for the atrocities and injustices of history. Only through collective healing will humanity transcend its parasitic cravings and restore the imperiled living systems of our world. An immersive journey through interwoven songs, lush soundscapes, and compelling musical passages, HERAFTER's PURIFIED is a most important record in this critical age.
