27 b stroke 6 formed on January 1, 1995, in the basement of a Paris, TN, radio station when engineer Willhite joined jazz fusion trio MBA (McCutcheon-Barnes-Adams) during a demo session. Their collaboration marked a shift toward rock and original material.Named after a line in the film Brazil, the band debuted at a regional Battle of the Bands just a month later—and won, launching a wave of local gigs, most notably at Dot’s 3 in Martin, TN. With the addition of percussionist Hill in mid-1995, the band further evolved its sound.Over the next several years, they recorded three albums:groovy people (1997)mijumaanja (1999), featuring the nationally aired track “He”A self-titled final album in 2002, recorded in Murfreesboro, TNDespite critical growth and modest national exposure, academic and geographic changes led to the group’s final show in May 2003.
